Mehta expressed his vehement opposition after the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Thursday (May 21) launched the Sports Ministry-approved SOP for athletes to comply with whereas coaching amid the pandemic, which has claimed greater than 3,500 lives within the nation to date.

It has not peaked yet. “Athletes are similar to our kids and so it’s my recommendation to them. My views should not in opposition to anyone. But it’s as much as the athletes to start out coaching or not.”

The SAI’s SOP got here after the house ministry allowed the opening of sports activities complexes and stadia in its pointers for the fourth part of the lockdown, which has been prolonged until May 31. But there was no readability on when the coaching will resume.
